What is a Fee-Only Financial Advisor?
“Fee-only.” A certificant may describe his or her practice as “fee-only” if, and only if, all of the certificant’s compensation from all of his or her client work comes exclusively from the clients in the form of fixed, flat, hourly, percentage or performance-based fees.
-CFP Board, www.CFP.net
Pyxis Financial Planning offers investment advisory services through Garrett Investment Advisors, LLC, a Fee-Only SEC registered investment advisor. We do not charge or receive a commission or mark-up on your securities transactions, nor will the firm or our associates be paid a commission on your purchase of an insurance contract or securities investment that we recommend.
Are Fee-Only and Fee-Based the Same?
Fee-based is NOT the same as fee-only. A fee-based financial advisor can receive fees paid by you, and commissions paid to them by a brokerage firm, mutual fund company, insurance company, or investment partnership. These fees should be disclosed to you, but may be difficult to understand.
What is your investment minimum?
Pyxis Financial Planning was started with the goal to provide objective and individually tailored financial planning advice to everyone. In order to accomplish this, we focus on a truly fee-only planning model that requires no minimum asset, net worth or fee amounts for our clients.
Are your fees tax deductible?
Yes, they may be. Section 212 of the Internal Revenue Code permits an itemized deduction for tax and/or investment advice in the miscellaneous section of Schedule A. It is subject to a 2% floor of the adjusted gross income on a personal tax return. For further information, please consult your tax advisor.
